I am not married to any detector brand as I own detectors manufactured by all the major makers (i.e. whites, fisher, garret, nautilus). I use them professionally and recreationally and the Minelab Sovereign GT is a real gem. It's a Perfect machine for relic hinting, coin shooting, beach hunting, and professional use (meaning archaeology - I don't know if it would work well as a utility / engineering machine but I also wouldn't spend $800 bucks to find a gas line) Form: A remarkably sturdy design that allows you to really whack around in tight areas and deep grass without worrying about breaking the neck or bending the shaft (mine is the straight shaft model). The Main Box ejects (think lizard tail) if caught on anything that would break it and the knobs resist sand and grit that dooms so many other knob based detectors. Function: I haven't yet tweaked every setting but the machine is stable even in heavy mineralized soils and along wet rivers...Read more |
