I am a third generation woodworker and have been in the business for 27 years and over the years I have seen many tools come and go. I really enjoy working with reclaimed lumber but what I don't enjoy is the cost and time in replacing my expensive blades whenever I hit a nail or staple, which can either be deeply embedded or just covered by dirt. Either way it's a pain. I can tell you that anyone considering purchasing a Lumber Wizard is making the right choice and trust me, it really does pay for itself! I just followed the simple instructions and placed a nail on the table to tune it. It "sang" like a bird every time I moved the Wizard over it! Once you try it you will wonder why you didn't pick up one sooner! Promise! "Props" to my wife who let me post this from her account!

Got one of these after I destroyed a circular saw blade when it hit a box cutter embedded in a brand new sheet of plywood. I've had it for a while now. It works well, but occasionally needs to be re-tuned (like after a new battery is put in, or after it has been unused for a long time). It is sensitive enough to find old nails in used lumber, and has saved me a couple of times. I just wish I had it before the box cutter incident!
